Fall Food, Fashion & Fun

While I have loved every minute of summer, I have to admit that I’m starting to get pretty excited about school starting back up. It’s not because I can’t wait to send the 5 year old off to Kindergarten and reclaim my days, but rather because the start of school is a signal that fall is almost here. Fall is without-a-doubt my favorite season.

I love watching the leaves change and eventually drop as the trees prepare for winter and I especially love the crispy cool weather that fall brings with it. It’s perfect for taking strolls in the park and those early morning runs. The other thing that I love about fall is getting ready for the holidays.

To me, fall is full of excitement as we begin to prepare to reconnect with our family and friends through our holiday celebrations. I know many of you dislike fighting the crowds as you shop for Christmas presents, but I actually enjoy that. Not dealing with rude people per se, but I enjoy all the Christmas décor, music and merriment that come with the season.

While fall is a prelude to the holiday season, it has some fun things specifically associated with it as well. Here are my favorite things about fall:

The Food - Who doesn’t enjoy the food that fall brings? I love it all - the pumpkin pie, roasted chestnuts, sweet potatoes and marshmallow casseroles, ham/turkey, etc. After my baby boy was born last August, I started paying a lot more attention to the foods that I eat in an effort to live a healthier lifestyle and get back into shape. However, when fall and the holidays arrive, I do give myself a little more leeway…and you should too. Don’t be so strict in your dieting efforts that you don’t let yourself enjoy that homemade piece of pumpkin pie.

The Fashion – I love, love, love the fall fashion! This year, I’m excited about the colored denim that men, women and children are all going to be wearing. I’m thinking a pair of canary yellow jeans will be the perfect way to welcome fall! It’s not just the jeans that I enjoy, but I also love layering my clothes with a great pair of leggings and some cute snow boots. This year, don’t forget the scarves, hats and bolero jackets as they are definitely great fashion accessories.

The Fun – Finally, there are a lot of fun events that take place around the country during the fall. For my family, the fall celebrations are kicked off with the State Fair in September and the rest follows. We have a local “Scare on the Square” celebration for Halloween, a pumpkin patch for families to enjoy as they pick out their pumpkins, a fall festival and much more. One of the things that my husband and I enjoy now that we have kids is the nearby corn maze. In addition to the three large corn mazes, the place also offers hay rides, a petting zoo and a place for birthday parties complete with a bonfire.

As you can see, there are a lot of things to look forward to as fall approaches. What do you enjoy most about fall?
