Helpful Tips for Picking Wedding Colors Picking wedding colors is one of the first decisions made by brides-to-be. It really has to be, because almost every aspect of the wedding décor is hinged on the colors selected by brides. Below is a short list of tips you may find helpful when picking wedding colors.
1. Select Your Location. First, you should select the location of your wedding, and especially the location of the reception. The reason is because if you have already selected your wedding colors but have your heart set on having the reception at a place that happens to have colored carpets or tile, something will have to give if all the colors don’t coordinate. Therefore, before committing to any specific wedding colors choose your location first.
2. Start Taking Notice. The next step is to begin looking around and noticing various color combinations. Take notes of the combinations you like the best and then visit fabric stores and/or paint stores. You can get samples of the colors you like in these places. Also, remember that you don’t have to limit yourself to only two colors. It’s perfectly acceptable to have more than two colors in a wedding if you prefer to do so!
3. Get Ideas by Browsing Dress Styles. Once you’ve found several colors you like, you can help get more concrete ideas of which colors go well together by looking at bridesmaids and flower girl dresses. Generally, these are the dresses where your colors will be most prevalent to guests. So, take your time and look through dress styles with the colors you like. You may find that one color doesn’t look as nice as another and weed through your color choices quickly.
