How to Make Accessorizing Fun for Girls

If you have a little girl at home, then more than likely you’ve already helped her accessorize her outfits. In fact, most parents of little girls start this process less than a week after the little one is born. Everything from girls’ shoes to hair bows to jewelry are considered accessories for girls. As your daughter begins to get older, she’ll develop her own sense of style and form her own opinions on the types of accessories she likes to wear. Below are a few ways that you can make accessorizing more fun for your daughter.

1.    Have a “Spa” Day Together. From about the time little girls reach the age of six, they’re generally able to sit still long enough to have their nails painted. Most young girls consider this activity fun because it makes them feel pretty. So, why not treat yourself, and your daughter, to a spa day every now and then? If you have more than one daughter, then you can all go together and improve your mother-daughter-sister bonding time. You may not realize it, but when you have your fingernails and toenails done, you are accessorizing your outfits at the same time!

2.    Start Making Jewelry. As previously mentioned, jewelry is one of the most common ways to accessorize an outfit. However, purchasing new jewelry to go with new outfits can quickly add up, especially if there is more than one girl in the house. So, why not start a new hobby together and start making your own jewelry? Who knows, you and your daughter may enjoy it so much (and be so good at it) that you end up creating, and selling, pieces for other people!

3.    Go Shopping for Handbags and Sunglasses. Girls accessories are not just limited to jewelry, shoes and decorative hair pieces. You can also accessorize with handbags and sunglasses. Shopping for handbags and sunglasses can be a lot of fun because you can try them on quickly – not to mention, you can take lots of pictures to capture your different looks. Handbags and sunglasses can get expensive too, so it’s best to save up and go in with a budget – but, even if you don’t buy anything, the handbag/sunglasses shopping experience is still a blast for mothers and daughters!

While most parents agree that girls are generally more expensive than boys are, for mothers – having a daughter is a true blessing. Why? Because mothers and daughters generally understand each other better and are able to establish a closer, friendship-type bond together as the years go by. The accessorizing activities listed above will help you build this bond with your young daughters!
