Second Wedding Ideas

When a lot of people talk about big and fancy weddings, they are usually talking about couples who are getting married for the first time. For some reason our society is captivated with the details of first-time weddings, but when it comes to weddings for those on their second wedding the interest dwindles. Any idea why this is?

Maybe it’s because the “big” wedding has already happened and the second time around it’s just not as exciting (according to those who aren’t as close to the couple). Whatever the reason, there is little we can do to change the overall view towards second weddings. However, if you are planning a second wedding, this does not mean you shouldn’t be excited about it or that you don’t deserve to talk about it and anticipate it just as much as you did your first wedding!

The great thing about a second wedding is the fact that you don’t feel all the pressure like you did the first time around. And, you have more freedom to do what you want without worrying about what everyone else is going to think. Below are a few ideas if you are (or someone you know is) planning a second wedding.

1.    Destination Wedding – Does the idea of having a wedding and a vacation all at one time sound like fun? Then consider a destination wedding. Generally, those who plan destination weddings don’t have to worry about anything (aside from their attire) until they reach their destination. The staff at the place where the wedding will be held generally handles all of the details, eliminating much of your stress! Keep in mind, destination weddings don’t allow for many guests, so your guest list will need to be kept to a minimum.

2.    Courthouse Wedding – This one sounds romantic doesn’t it? The benefit of a courthouse wedding is that you don’t have to worry about the expense of a big wedding. You don’t have to spend time fussing over bridesmaids dresses, flower girl dresses, boys tuxedos, the cake, venue or anything else when you go to the courthouse. You get to the courthouse, go in and 20 minutes later you’re married. Now, most people who have a courthouse wedding celebrate the union with a big reception sometime afterward. The reception can be as big or small as you like!

3.    Backyard Wedding – Another popular option for those who are getting married is to have a backyard wedding. Backyard weddings are perfect for low-key couples who want to share their special day with only their closest friends and family. While they do cost a little more than a courthouse wedding, they aren’t nearly as expensive as destination weddings are and they still provide you with a memorable wedding experience.
