Wedding Planning Do’s and Don’tsFrom the moment you become engaged the wedding planning begins. There are a lot of details that need to be worked out and only a few short months to get it all done in, at least that’s what it seems like. Below are a few wedding planning do’s and don’ts to help you plan the perfect wedding.
1. Do Set the Date Immediately. The first thing you should do after THE question has been “popped” is sit down with a calendar and set your wedding date. The sooner you can get a date picked out the sooner you can begin planning the rest of the wedding details. Obviously, you will need to take a few things into consideration when choosing a date. For instance, if one of your bridesmaids is pregnant, you will need to plan the wedding on that a day that isn’t close to her due date or if your fiancé’s parents have a vacation planned don’t schedule the wedding for when they’ll be gone.
2. Don’t Worry about What Others Think. The one thing many couples get caught up in while planning their wedding is worrying about what everyone else thinks. When you do this, it makes it easy to lose sight of what you and your fiance want for your wedding. From the start, realize that you can’t please everyone therefore, there’s no need to worry about what everyone else thinks you should do. Stay true to each other and plan a wedding that you both love.
3. Do Ask for Help. Finally, don’t be afraid to ask for help from your friends and family. Most of the time, friends and family members want to help but just don’t know what they can help with. You don’t have to limit them to the simple tasks like telling you which bridesmaids dresses/flower girl dresses they like best. You can ask them for help on the more time-consuming, difficult tasks such as preparing wedding favors, addressing invitations, decorating the reception hall, etc.
4. Don’t be Stuck on one Location. While you may have a vision in your mind for the perfect wedding location, it’s a good idea not to be stuck on that one location. The location may be out of your budget or it may be booked for the date you have already set. When it comes down to it, the wedding location is not going to “make” the wedding. Your closest friends and family members will attend your wedding no matter where you have it, so don’t stress over this!
