2013 Fall Fashion for Boys
by Andrea K. Clark
This year can easily qualify as one of the fastest years for me. Iím not sure if itís because I turned 30 or if itís due to the fact that I just had my second (and last) baby a year ago in August, but I seriously feel like Iíve flown through this year. Iím hoping that somehow I can find a way to slow it down before 2014 arrives.
Regardless of whether I want to slow the year down or not, the fact remains that in a month or so, the air will begin to cool and fall will be blowing through. What does this mean? For me, it means that I need to get it in gear and start shopping for some fall clothing for my boys! Nothing is worse for a mother than being caught off guard when fall arrives. Trust me, I know. I had this happen last year. Due to the timing of my last pregnancy and the babyís arrival, I put off shopping for my oldest son and wasnít ready when the cold weather hit. However, I donít have that excuse this year so I had better get moving.
While I donít usually get caught up in fashion trends, now that Iíve got a little man going into Kindergarten I have started paying particular attention to boysí fashion trends and I have to admit that Iím a little excited about some of the 2013 fall fashion trends for boys. Below are my findings:
Leather Jackets Ė While leather jackets have been in style for adults for quite some time, they really havenít made a lasting impression on young boys. I have a feeling that this is going to change this fall. Iíve recently seen several online advertisements of little boys wearing some pretty sporty looking leather jackets. And, in my honest opinion, they look pretty darn cute!
Colored Pants Ė Over the past few years we have gradually started seeing color make its way back to pants, especially denim. However, this summer color took a bold step for boys as retailers began selling shorts in bright, bold solid colors such as red, canary yellow and burnt orange. This fall, you can bet that the color isnít going to fade away with summer, but will continue to hit store shelves in denim and other materials. This fall, colored pants will be a fun way for school aged boys to add a little variety to their wardrobes.
Hi-Top Sneakers Ė Whether you like the idea or not, hi-top sneakers are making their way back to both the girl and boy fashion world this fall. While this personally isnít my style, I have to admit that the look is pretty cool for boys. You know, they say that if you keep something long enough, it will eventually be back in style again. That is what we are seeing with the hi-top sneakers. For years, those were out of style, but now theyíre back in and looking better than ever!
Layered Tops Ė Layering clothes isnít new to fall fashion trends as the look has been around for a while. However, I thought it was worth mentioning because with all the new boy fashion trends this year I can see how it would be easy to get confused on what is ďinĒ for shirts. Itís still the layered look but, this year, with colored pants and hi-top sneakers making a comeback kids have the ability to have a little more fun with their layers.
While a lot of moms of boys often complain that the fashion industry is biased and focuses primarily on girls, this fall it looks as though boys are going to have a lot more to choose from when they go shopping for their back-to-school wardrobe!
